About
Brief Bio
I have been involved in Waldorf education for eighteen years as a parent, administrator, and teacher. I helped to found the Tamarack Waldorf School and served as the school’s administrator for its first three years. As a private Waldorf school participating in the School Choice voucher program, Tamarack's unique mission helps it to serve students and families from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. I am the Program Director at the Great Lakes Waldorf Institute, a training program offering certificates and Master's degrees for Waldorf educators located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I am also deeply engaged in teaching a lively class of children in my second cycle of class teaching at Tamarack. The mother of five distinguished Waldorf children ranging in age from 9 to 26, I am also the wife of another fine Waldorf class teacher/Jazz musician.
I earned my BFA in acting from the DePaul/Goodman School of Drama in Chicago in 1985 and spent many subsequent years as a professional actress and acting teacher before discovering Waldorf Education. My primary performance interest was experimental theatre, theatre of transformation, and exploration of the divine in the theatrical. I completed my Master’s degree at the Barfield School of Sunbridge College where I used Goethean methodologies and contemplative practice in academic research. I am currently a doctoral candidate at the California Institute of Integral Studies where I am working on an action research project in the Transformative Studies department on building teacher-student relationships through the mindful and contemplative practice of student observation.
